In early 2021, we sent 24 cases of solar lanterns to Puerto Rico (1152 lanterns). Fortunately they were not needed for the 2021 hurricane season. But in 2022 Fiona hit and our lanterns were there and ready to go. Now our task is to replenish what was distributed and hopefully add to that number. Currently, we have one pledge that will cover the cost of 24 cases. That is wonderful, but when a hurricane hits, many thousands more can be needed. Approximately $4800 will cover the cost of these 24 cases (1152 lanterns), including shipping and customs.
Our partner in Puerto Rico is the local Salvation Army office, and specifically Miguel Rivera. Please see below the latest message from Miguel.

Subject: Re: Solar Lanterns for Puerto Rico
Good morning Mr. Varhola
Sorry for my delay as we did not have a good internet signal, but let you know that we have sent the solar lamps to the communities that they donated very well.
People are very grateful to have a little light in the dark of night. For my part, I am very grateful for his donation and I confess that I never thought they would be used so quickly.
Many blessings to you, your family and your work group.
Thanks,
Miguel
