DYJEPREDHU Academy and help change the lives of 3,000 orphaned and vulnerable children in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Crime, teenage pregnancy, poverty, HIV, Ebola, unemployment, and despair are the main challenges facing children in the Democratic Republic of Congo. We collaborate with 100 volunteers in 100 villages to help children develop resilience in the face of often terrible life situations and to build on their successes. In this way, they acquire the emotional, physical, and spiritual strength necessary to become adult leaders and help others achieve their dreams.
We use the Scout model of cascading training and peer support to empower children to make informed decisions about their lives, based on strong values. A code of conduct is established, and children commit to respecting it to participate in the project. They then participate in various activities tailored to their age and abilities, which support their development as young leaders. Each group is involved in a community project to contribute to the development of their village.
In 18 years, we have supported more than 20,000 children. The teenage pregnancy rate has dropped from 13% provincially to 0.07% within our program. - High school graduation rate of 91% (compared to 62% for the government) - We have already trained doctors, lawyers, social workers, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, teachers, nurses, mechanics, fitters, electricians, and more.
