In the Democratic Republic of Congo, thousands of children and young people grow up facing poverty, unemployment, teenage pregnancy, family vulnerability, and limited opportunities to build a secure future. Through the Lifeskills for 3,000 Children in DR Congo project, DYJEPREDHU Academy aims to equip 3,000 orphaned and vulnerable children and young people, aged 5 to 26, with practical life skills, positive values, and the confidence they need to make informed decisions and become active contributors to their communities.
The project is currently in its preparation and resource-mobilization phase. We are identifying qualified trainers and potential learners and preparing the activities that will be implemented with the support of volunteers in local communities. The training will use a peer-support and cascading-learning approach inspired by the Scout model, with activities adapted to participants' ages and abilities. Children and young people will also be encouraged to take part in community initiatives that allow them to put what they learn into practice.
Our fundraising target is $20,000, and we have currently raised $45 toward this goal. Every contribution, whatever its size, brings us one step closer to reaching more children and creating meaningful opportunities for them. We are grateful to GlobalGiving for providing a platform that connects local organizations like ours with donors around the world. We warmly invite individuals, foundations, and partners to support this project and help us give vulnerable children in the DRC the skills, hope, and opportunities they deserve. Together, we can help turn potential into lasting change.
