Challenge

In the Dominican Republic, many vulnerable people cannot access the health care they need because of discrimination, stigma, poverty, or a lack of quality services. People living with HIV, survivors of violence, people experiencing homelessness, and people who use drugs are among those most affected. As international funding declines, thousands risk losing access to lifesaving medical care, mental health support, and essential health services.

Solution

This project will ensure that 5,000 vulnerable people continue to access lifesaving health services, including medical care, laboratory testing, mental health support, HIV services, and sexual and reproductive health care. Through affordable, high-quality, and stigma-free services, COIN will help people overcome barriers to care, detect health conditions early, access treatment, and improve their quality of life.

Long-Term Impact

This project will help 5,000 vulnerable people build healthier and more stable lives by ensuring continued access to quality health services. Earlier diagnosis, ongoing treatment, mental health support, and preventive care will reduce avoidable health complications, improve well-being, and help people remain active in their families and communities. Over time, the project will reduce health inequities and improve outcomes for those most often left behind.
