Dear friends,
Vacha Team sends Season’s Greetings and Best Wishes for 2015.
We take this opportunity to thank you for your generosity and for your active concern for empowerment of deprived girls who, for most of you, live in a far away country. All of us truly appreciate this.
The new project for a permanent girls’ training centre will truly take off after we get a place of our own. However, we are moving towards it steadily. Space in Mumbai is rare and expensive. It is an island city in which over 60 per cent live in slums, in dilapidated structures and on pavements. Housing and office space are known to cost as much as in Manhattan, New York, not comparatively but actually. Apartments have to be mostly purchased and, if available otherwise, rent is prohibitive. We are looking for a reasonably sized space in a duly constructed building with sanitation, which would be in a down market locality. We have already collected a substantial amount for a good down payment and hope to pay installments through generosity of people like you.
Of course we are not going to stand still until an appropriate apartment can be purchased. We will get some space in communities and carry on with our activities. We have started looking at new communities where our programme of training girls in life skills can be executed under this project. In the meantime, please do visit our project at: https://www.globalgiving.org/projects/life-skills-training-of-300-girls-in-mumbai-slums/ to get details of ongoing work of Vacha. It will be strengthened and expanded under this new project. We will be putting up reports of activities regularly in the coming year.
