Science, religion and my 8 year old twins have all thought long and hard on this one. What is the meaning of life? Well, what we notice here at our little nonprofit is that, through everything, there appears to be an overriding concept that weaves its way through everything. It is human connection. It is our connections with each other that keep us going, keep us vibrant and keep us grounded.
And it is just what you have done through your gifts. By donating to LIFE ElderCare, you have made some incredibly important connections; both to each other as a giving community and to homebound, frail seniors who need us more than anything. You’ve shown commitment to this oft-forgotten group of amazing individuals and we are honored to work in tandem with you to serve them.
Antoinette is one of those real, live, frail but very upbeat people you have helped us serve. She happily told a volunteer once when he was delivering her meal “oh boy, I sure am glad you guys exist!” Her small home has scrapbooks with photographs of her family and their life together and she loves to show the volunteers when they come to bring her daily meal. So she gets nutritious food, a well-check and yes, warm human connection…aka love. :-)
We are much closer to reaching our goal than we were 2 months ago! You have helped so much that we are now over halfway there... 57% to be exact. Together you all have bought 712 meals which means steady food for three months to several people like Antoinette.
I have not met you personally but I feel like I know you a little bit. I send you now my warmest wishes for joy and contentment to light your new year!
With gratitude and connection,
Patricia Osage
