One in six older adults in the US faces the threat of hunger; and it is estimated that $130 billion / year in medical bills can be attributed to issues stemming from inadequate food intake. Programs like Meals on Wheels help address this critical need - enabling seniors to stay nourished and thriving as they age.
We recently received a letter from one of our Meals on Wheels clients, Biagio, and his words highlight the vital importance of LIFE ElderCare’s services. Here’s an excerpt:
“Just wanted to let you know that I am now 96 years old and wouldn't be able to stay in my home if it weren't for Meals on Wheels. Most of the time I am stuck in bed because it is hard for me to get up. I can't cook meals anymore so you have truly been a lifesaver to me. Thank you for taking the time to care. I appreciate all that you do!”
In addition to nutritious, home-delivered meals, LIFE ElderCare provides a range of essential services for frail elders. Whether they need a ride to the doctor’s office, modifications to make their home environment safer, or a friendly volunteer to stop by and chat – LIFE is there for them. Check out this short video to learn more about the support we provide to seniors in Alameda County: We're All Aging Together.
Our work couldn’t happen without your ongoing support – so THANK YOU for being a lifesaver and taking the time to care for older adults like Biagio. Your support continues to make a profound difference in the lives of older adults in need.
With sincere gratitude,
Patricia
