The Nguku Library Project, is a community-led initiative that’s building a library and e-learning center in rural Kenya.This space will empower students to access quality learning resources and better prepare for the national exams that shape their futures. The project also involves planting a fruit orchard on the library property that will offer an experiential classroom in sustainable agriculture, help address the community's food insecurity and provide a long term funding stream for the library's services.
On Thursday, September 11th we had the chance to gather at the new McCourt school of Public Policy to meet some new faces, enjoy delicious African food, connect with people with shared interests, and share more about the Nguku Library Project.
Together we raised more than $8,000 - well beyond our $5,000 goal for the evening! These funds will help us move into the next phases of construction: walling, roofing, and installing windows and doors. With this progress, we’re now only 31% away from fully funding and finishing the library.
