WE HAVE SOLAR!!!!!! Clearly we are a wee bit excited!!!
Thanks to Solar Light For Africa, our first Library located in Danida/Masese 2 has solar power. We cannot thank them enough for this AWESOME contribution to our Library.
Reasons this is fantastic? The library can be open later so that children can come to read, study, and have help with their homework past sundown. It will help movie nights as the laptop and projector no longer have to be attached to a loud running generator. Community members will be able to utilize the space for meetings and such outside of daylight hours.
In addition, instead of altering the librarian's working hours, the ladies of Lubanga Twero Women's Group (ladies overseeing the library) decided to let a young man stay in a small room attached to the library rent free, in exchange for him opening the library in the evenings for community use.
The people we work with are truly inspiring.
