Some recent updates from LAA:
First of all, please check out the LAA promo video done by our good friend Richie Gelles: http://www.vimeo.com/16103789
SEPTEMBER:
- Thanks to all that helped make the Evoke Challenge fundraising drive a huge success. LAA placed FIRST in two of the three incentive categories, including Most Unique Donors and Most Comments, which yielded an additional $1,500 in funds. THANKS to all who offered support!
- LAA added two critical team members in Idris Bello and Kevin Simmons. Both are Executive MBA students from Rice University with experience working in Africa and will spearhead the development of a sustainable business model for LAA.
OCTOBER:
- LAA was presented at the World Bank Evoke Summit and received some incredible feedback from an international cast of leading social innovators.
- LAA entered the BUCKMINSTER FULLER CHALLENGE ideas competition. This push in development led to the addition of designers Andres Felipe Escobar and Don Hickey, as well as anthropologist Katie Plocheck. The competition documents are attached to this update.
NOVEMBER:
- Team working out detailed elements of a comprehensive pitch document, due out in early 2011. This will be a major milestone for the team and a key tool in procuring phase II funding. We'll check in again when the document is together!
Thanks and have a great holiday season!
