Village Improvement Project has received a $3000 grant from Friends of Liberia to provide the seed money to publish the first copies of Once Upon West Africa. Also, our Chairman of the Board, Dr. LeRoy Boikai, was recently in Monrovia, Liberia. He pursued his plans to meet with individuals at a high level in the Ministry of Education to discuss getting Once Upon West Africa adopted as an approved text for Liberian schools.
Phillip Martin, author of this book of folk takes, recently told us, “In recent weeks, we’ve passed the stories back and forth, editing and re-editing. Through this extensive work of editing the book, I had to expand 32 stories. Fortunately, it really made them a lot better as well. “
Three of the stories are available online. We encourage our donors to read them on VIP’s website.
