Your Gift Reached a Widow in Need

When a magnitude 6.2–6.3 earthquake struck northern Afghanistan near Mazar-e-Sharif (Balkh Province) on 3 November 2025, our team immediately initiated this project with urgency and deep concern for families already living in extremely fragile conditions. Our intention was to provide timely and meaningful assistance to those affected.

Aid Afghanistan For Education has assisted families impacted by earthquakes in Afghanistan in the past, and through that experience, we understand that effective emergency response requires sufficient resources to ensure aid is delivered ethically and with dignity.

This project received $100 in donations. With these funds, we provided direct assistance to a widow, Soraya, who had been affected by the earthquake, offering immediate support during a time of acute vulnerability. At the same time, we recognized that the overall funding level was not sufficient to sustain a broader or coordinated response. To remain accountable to the community and our supporters, we have closed this project rather than keep it open without the capacity to deliver meaningful impact at scale.

While we were unable to expand activities beyond this initial assistance, the needs of earthquake-affected families in Afghanistan remain significant. Our organization continues its long-term work supporting vulnerable children and families through education and community-based support, and we remain prepared to respond to future emergencies when adequate resources are available.

We are deeply grateful to those who contributed. Your generosity, no matter the amount, made a real difference in one individual’s life and affirmed that compassion and solidarity still reach Afghanistan.

With heartfelt appreciation,
Hassina Sherjan
