In the past three months, the Children Daycare Center has provided 194 services to 21 children —14 girls and 7 boys.
These children encountered puzzles, watercolors, and modeling clay for the very first time at the Day Center, where they were given the chance to simply be children who play. From January 2025 until today, 21 children have played 81 times, had lunch 72 times, learned 22 times, and bathed and changed clothes 19 times at the Children Daycare Center.
The Day Center for Children in Niš has been operating since August 2023 and is the only place where street children can take shelter from the heat or cold, rain and snow, have a meal or take a bath, and spend meaningful time. Since its opening, 59 children have passed through the Day Center, receiving over 1,700 services (including meals, bathing, changing clothes, play, and learning). In addition to supporting the children, the Children Daycare Center also provides assistance to their mothers through direct support, counseling, and accompaniment to institutions. With our help, they have accessed their rights through scheduled appointments with institutions and medical exams, gathering necessary documentation and obtaining personal IDs, enrolling their children in schools and kindergartens, job-seeking support, and more.
Almost none of the children who come to the Children Daycare Center attend kindergarten or school regularly. Children who are enrolled in school very often miss classes and fall behind in their studies. Right now, the Children Daycare Center is the only place in their lives where they can learn and just be kids—without the burden of having to work and earn money, rain or shine.
To continue supporting street children in this way, the Children Daycare Center needs financial help.
