The Project’s Overview
The project of Sunshine Cambodia (SC) has implemented with both children and their parents. Children were supported to attend formal education in both state and private schools, while parents received parenting skills, vocational and Micro Enterprise Development (MED) training, start-up capital, as well as the emergency relief.
In addition, SC’s staff has conducted the children’s club weekly, the youth’s and parents’ club quarterly. By involving in clubs those children, youth, and their parents have learned various topics that relevant to their lives and families. Moreover, the project’s staff have worked directly with both fathers and mothers by spending their time with them to do a home visit and case management. This led them to know more about their family situation and needs. It is also to build a close relationship with all beneficiaries.
Actually, the project is designed to improve the living conditions and reduce poverty within the families that SC has worked with as well as to focus on the implementation of the children’s basic rights. We are glad to see many boys, girls, youth and their family have shown they are improving from day to day. Many of them have got knowledge and skills. Some are studying at university and some have jobs. Some families managed to run a small business, while some of them bought some necessary stuff for their family’s needs.
Let's ready a girl's story!
"My parents always tell me to study hard"
Sreyno lives with her parents in Tropeang Angchagn, Phnom Penh. She is 8 years old and studies at grade 2. Her father worked as a construction worker and her mother is a factory worker. Her family faced many difficulties and could not afford to pay for her schooling, especially English course. She, then, was accepted to SC’s program in 2017.
Sreyno is a good student. Her study this year is much better compared to previously. We are told by her teacher that she is a good student and mostly gets a better score. When she comes back home, she mostly spends her time to do her homework. One of her neighbours who knows her and her family very well also praises her that, “Sreyno is a good girl. I see she is trying very hard to study both at school and at home. When she finishes her Khmer class at the public school she goes to her English class regularly.”
Now Sreyno is a happy girl. “I am very happy now. My parents always tell me to study hard. They said I am a good girl and a good student too. I have many friends; and I enjoy playing with them. This make me very happy.”
Thanks for your support to make the life of the underprivileged children positively changed.
Be Blessed,
