Report on"Educational support to girl students"

By Mr.Akhil Ranjan Panda | General Secretary

In Rural India, girls face discrimination because of being born as a girl. This leaves them at the bottom of the social ladder in terms of access to rights and developments. Education is one of the most significant means of empowering any individual or community in general and women & girls in particular. By supporting the girl students in their education the obstacles in the girl's education will be reduced to a greater extent. An educated girl of today will present the educated society in future.

Focusing the local problems of a shortfall in education, gender discrimination, health and socio-economic situation, SHAKTI organisation has taken an integrated and innovative developmental approach to solve the problems of social and economic backwardness.

SHAKTI's MISSION:

“To facilitate the development process to improve the Quality of the lives of the deprived class of the society, especially the tribal, marginalized and women through particularly action and to enhance the capacity of the people’s organization, ensuring Sustainability.”

 The effort for Child Rights:

SHAKTI Organisation has been working on the issues of child rights since 2011. As a part of its effort for Child rights, SHAKTI began working on child protection, child rescue, child trafficking through CHILDLINE and supporting the children and youth for enhancing their educational strength and skill building through different projects like Educational support to Slum children, SHAKTI Child Development Programme where different vocational trainings and educational supports were given to the youth and children.

We have proposed an amount of $6591 for this project where it was proposed to support 600 needy girl students with a school kit containing Notebooks, Compass box, school bag. But still $132 is raised in our project, due to which we were not able to meet all the needs of all the students. So, we have supported 53 needy girl students with 5 notebooks each till now. But we are still trying to mobilise funds from other sources.

Gratification: We are very much thankful to the donors who have supported this programme.

General Secretary,

SHAKTI Organisation, Rayagada, Odisha, India
