Bringing Water Home: Transforming Lives through Household Tanks Access to clean and safe water remains a basic yet critical need for many households in our communities. To address this challenge, a household water tank construction project was initiated to provide sustainable water solutions to vulnerable families. As of June 2025, a total of eight (8) household water tanks have been successfully constructed. The construction of household water tanks aims to improve access to clean water, reduce waterborne diseases, and relieve families especially women and children from the burden of traveling long distances in search of water. Each tank, strategically placed at selected households, collects and stores rainwater, ensuring availability during both dry and wet seasons. Beneficiaries no longer walk long distances or rely on unsafe water sources. Instead, they have water within reach for domestic use cooking, cleaning, bathing, and drinking. This has not only improved hygiene but also enabled families to allocate more time to income-generating activities, schooling, and general well-being. A grandmother living with her grandchildren in the rural village of Kairi, Wakiso district, is one of the beneficiaries. For years, her grandchildren would wake up to walk long distances to the nearest water source. The journey was not only exhausting but also unsafe, especially for the children who would often be late for school. Today, that burden is a thing of the past. “We now have clean water right in our compound,” she shared with tears of joy. “My grandchildren no longer miss school. I have more time to take care of my family, and our health has greatly improved.”
