To all who have helped to support the Wisconsin/Nicaragua Partners Learning Center program in various ways since 1979, and to those who will join in to help going forward, this report is dedicated to you.
In this GlobalGiving update, we are sharing with you the words from a woman who began as a student in the Learning Center program, transitioned to a leader for many years, and now is running her own program at a local hospital. She is a true testament about the value of investing in opportunities that provide the gift of empowerment and learning.
“This year that is ending was full of many challenges but the strength of all the women allowed the work of Wisconsin not to be extinguished. Each one carried out their work of teaching and sharing the bread of knowledge with those who need it most and all this has been possible thanks to what we always had from Wisconsin/Nicaragua Partners.
The courses that were offered taught us to knit with 2 needles, to embroider, to make patterns, to sew, and many other things.
What I am and the work that I do today with women who have Cancer is thanks to all that training that I received with you. You will always have this recognition from me. If you can imagine my work at the hospital, for two and a half years now, I have been changing the lives of more than 100 women who are fighting to save their lives and at the same time learning to sew.
I was 29 years old when I started receiving all the monthly training that was offered to us through the Learning Centers. Now I am 55 and I continue to find it useful in my work and for the rest of my life. Thank you very much for all this.
Feel proud of the work sustained for more than 50 years in Nicaragua, just like me, many of us that were seeds are now making a difference in helping to recover the security and self-esteem of so many women in Nicaragua. I reiterate my greetings to all your support team.” - Yanina
“Success in life has nothing to do with what you gain in life or accomplish for yourself. It’s what you do for others.” - Danny Thomas
Thank you for your financial support in our programs that continue to provide important learning opportunities for women with limited resources.
