Your support to the W/NP Learning Center program is truly changing lives, even across the generations.
Elizabeth, who started the El Caimito Learning Center in 2005 recently shared this comment with us, “I have always liked to learn and also support other people, before coming to the Wisconsin/Nicaragua Partners organization I had no higher education but following a training with the W/NP VOICE project (Validating Our Initiatives and Creating Equality) my life changed. I learned that we have opportunities while we have life. The testimonies shared by many helped me to see life in a different way. I finished my secondary studies and I graduated as a primary education teacher and also as a graduate in pedagogy. Thank God I am deputy director of a small school in my community, and I also teach classes of decoration of events and piñatas in different communities and especially supporting my community. I have three children who with my example have resumed their higher education and my four grandchildren are very proud to have a grandmother who despite the age always comes out ahead in what I propose, that is my message to everyone. IT'S NEVER TOO LATE TO LEARN, THANK YOU WISCONSIN/NICARAGUA PARTNERS.”
We are grateful to GlobalGiving for providing a platform for people to join in and help bring new learning opportunities to people with few resources and options.
We asked Elizabeth how she is supporting other beneficiaries of the Learning Center program? She replied, “By multiplying knowledge and giving her students talks to raise their self-esteem and by improving quality of life to families since many now have small businesses with what they have learned.” The students who have taken the Piñata course taught by Elizabeth are now selling their creations at local markets which generates important income that helps to provide for their families.
Thanks to Elizabeth’s enthusiasm and coordination, her community also participated in special walk for the annual W/NP Bike/Hike event to raise awareness about the 56 year Partnership between Wisconsin and Nicaragua. It’s people like you reading this and Elizabeth who become part of a chain reaction to make the world a better place.
Working together, we make a difference. We appreciate your support and donations to the Learning Center program. Best wishes to all for 2022.
