Sophie & Darija are the powerful young leaders of oikos, they walk the talk when it comes to creating the future we envision. This is how we approach leadership in our student-led network: together! The YouthLead Scholarship enables us to switch to a more shared form of leadership by opening an amazing learning experience for two talented & ambitious, young leaders who, with a high probability, will change the world in the upcoming years as they step into the oikos International co-presidency.
How do we want to live, lead and learn together? oikos is holding up this question - and what we see in the world is that many people in leadership positions get overwhelmed or even burned out by expectations that cannot be met by a single person. Our current ways of working and leading are unsustainable. In order to change this, we wish to start with ourselves and want to role-model leadership for a better future. Our way to reinvent what this might look like by introducing a co-presidency.
After taking initial steps towards student-self-organization, we introduce a shared leadership learning journey for the two persons at the helm of oikos, our student network for sustainability in economics & business education. This shared responsibility will give two individuals the opportunity to grow and evolve together with the organization - as co-presidents, in a more sustainable way that will inspire our whole network. The YouthLead Scholarship enables us to turn this vision into reality.
The co-presidency will scale our impact in empowering and encouraging student change agents worldwide to raise awareness for sustainability and transform higher education. It will increase our capacities to steward our student community and become more efficient in knowledge transfer and evolution. With two full-time committed individuals, learnings can be better integrated, the complexity can be explored through new perspectives and there is more time to facilitate and support the oikos team.
