Thank you for your continued support for the Lakota Lands Recovery Project! During this period we mostly focused on outreach for our project partners on the Pine Ridge Reservation. I'm also happy to report that Lakota Country Times picked-up one of our blog posts on the extreme disparity between native and non-native ranchers operating on Tribal Lands (a situation where 85% of agriculture income generated on Tribal Lands is collected by non-native producers). They posted it on their facebook page and it went viral! http://www.villageearth.org/pages/global-affiliate-network/projects-pineridge-reservation/non-natives-collect-84-5-of-agriculture-income-on-south-dakota-reservations.
During this period we also provided GIS information to the Secretary of the USDA and provided him critical information on the challenges and injustices created for Tribes by the USDA's Indian Tribal Land Acquisition Program. We're hoping this will contribute to our ongoing campaign to get the USDA to forgive this poorly designed and exploitative program. We'd like to continue these advocacy efforts. Your donations directly support these efforts!
