2014 Performers Are Getting Ready
By Katherine Mayberry | Project Leader
The performing groups for the 2014 Lake Effect Fringe Festival are all lined up. We will feature performances by Lucas Brooks, GEM Theatrics, Kairos Theatre Company, No Outlet Improv Troupe, M.Y. Musical Productions, the Pigeon Creek Shakespeare Company, Southside Theatre Company, and the Stark Turn Players. The performances will span a wide variety of theatre genres, from improv comedy to classical works to brand new plays.
The 2014 festival begins on January 30 and continues through March 2. The next step in our preparation is reviewing applications from potential production managers, and meeting with the performing groups in January to make sure they have everything they need to put on outstanding performances. We are really excited to highlight the work of so many West Michigan natives, and to promote local non-profit arts organizations to our region's audiences.

Performances Shaping Up for 2014 Festival
By Katherine Mayberry | Project Leader
The organizing committee for the 2014 Lake Effect Fringe Festival has been meeting all summer, getting things ready for the 2014 festival, which will take place from January 30-March 2 of 2014. We are expanding the festival to 5 weekends this year, and already have many exciting performances in store for audiences.
Stark Turn Players will again present their 10-minute plays competition, with categories for student and professional playwrights. Their performance dates will include performances of many of the best script submissions. GEM Theatrics will present My Dearest Friend, an original piece based on the letters of John and Abigail Adams. The Pigeon Creek Shakespeare Company will present Tis Pity She's a Whore, a play by John Ford, an English playwright from the early 1600s who was a contemporary of Shakespeare. The Southside Theatre Company will also present an exciting production.
We are currently taking applications from other regional theatre groups to round out the performance line-up for the festival. Thank you all again for your support of this exciting project!

Plans for Next Year's Festival are Underway!
By Katherine Mayberry | Project Leader
After the outstanding audience response to this past February's first annual Lake Effect Fringe Festival, we have begun plans for the 2014 festival. Any donations that you make to this project will go towards the ongoing planning and execution of another festival for 2014. We will again highlight the outstanding variety of local theatre in the West Michigan area, expanding our programming to 5 weekends of performances, all to take place at the Dog Story Theater in Grand Rapids.
Selections for the 2014 festival will include another 10-Minute Playwrighting Contest produced by the Stark Turn Players, as well as theatrical performances from improv comedy to classical drama. We will strive to engage new theatre groups as well as those who participated last year, and we hope to reach an even greater number of audiences.
Thanks again to those who have contributed to this project, and we will keep you updated on the performance schedule for 2014 as further information becomes available!
