America SCORES LA (LA SCORES) has served the Palms Community of Los Angeles for 15 years, during that time approximately 5,000 students have experienced our after-school programs at Palms Elementary (project site), Charnock Road Elementary, Braddock Drive Elementary and Palms Middle School. This fall we reached out to our alumni, many of whom are now young adults in their twenties, to share their memories of LA Scores and the impact the organization has made on them. Here's what they said:

"American SCORES LA has shaped me into the person I am today, with all the great work and effort that each and every person in American SCORES puts into each child it is so nice and caring. I have been with this non profit since I was 6 and I am now 20 years old and till this day, America SCORES LA has always been there for each and every one of us." - Vanessa

"I was in the 5th Grade and LA Scores had just started at Palms Elementary. I remember my peers and younger grades began to get involved with this great organization. It had a combination of the love for soccer and a passion to help children tap into their creative mindset. Children here got the best of physical and mental health by training their whole-self to become the best individual they could be. In addition, they provide scholarships to aid children to further their academic goals. My sister was a winner and she was forever grateful to be awarded such an achievement. LA Scores also keeps in touch with their alumni which is great because alumni are giving back to the community that once helped them grow. LA Scores continues to make a presence in the lives of children through soccer, creativity and exposing them to experiences that they will never forget (like meeting their soccer idols, attending soccer camps, or going to a professional soccer match). LA Scores is one of the best nonprofits in the state, if not the country and deserves a great deal of recognition. Keep up the outstanding work!" - Fred

"I was a part of America Scores LA on the first day it started at my elementary school. Being a student with America Scores LA not only taught me to be a better soccer player, but also a better student, a more involved community member, and be very much blessed of being a part of an amazing organization. America Scores LA is like family, and no matter far away I go, I know that I can trace my roots and beginnings back to this organization." - Leasley

"I first joined America Scores LA when I was in 5th grade. I never played soccer before but I was convinced by one of my fellow peers. It was the first time I understood what teamwork really meant because immediately we created a family bond amongst our team. We would carry that bond all the way through middle school and high school and even create our own team in a outside soccer league in which we would win championships. America Scores LA taught me the essentials to become a great soccer player as well as a great student. It ensured that we created the best opportunity for our education and pursued our dreams. America Scores LA is a program that will definitely leave a lasting impression for those who become involved with the program." - Miguel

"LA Scores has changed my life in many ways. It introduced me to a sport that I had never played before, and that sport was soccer. Soccer helped me develop as a person, with communication skills, and a competitive drive that pushes me through all obstacles. LA Scores also helped me academically, with the creative writing skills I developed at an elementary school age. Throughout my years as a teen, LA Scores was also there to support me in all my activities like high school and college soccer games I have life long memories and appreciation for LA Scores." - Brittany

"I love LA Scores not only do they the most for kids in my community, they also do for alumni like myself. LA Scores gets indoor soccer locations so that we can go play and enjoy a bit of exercise and Soccer. LA Scores will be there for you wherever you’ve gone." - Carlos

"LA Scores is a really awesome after school program that combines the grand sport of soccer with literary skills such as writing poems. Growing up, this program helped me out a lot because the mentors tutored me and help me understand my homework when I had trouble. I met a lot of my friends here through the sport of soccer. LA Scores was a lot of help and every parent should take the chance to sign their kids up here because it will help them a lot too" - Rodrigo

Your support of our project will allow us the opportunity to further improve on the quality of our program as experienced by our alumni above. Our long-term goal is to replicate this model to new schools and communities and ensure thousands more students have this same opportunity. We can only do this with your support!! Thank you!!
