Since our last report, the 10-week spring semester program has been a busy time for America SCORES LA. We have been fortunate to have several of our partnering organizations participate in helping build awareness for our organization and our project.
In March, our national partner, Hunt 4 Soccer, donated brand new soccer balls to all of our students. As part of our program, every student receives a brand new soccer ball to enable them to continue practicing their soccer skills outside of America SCORES LA. Above is a picture of our Junior SCORES students with their new Hunt 4 Soccer balls.
In April, Los Angeles' new Major League Soccer team, LAFC, adopted our weekly Friday GameDay at Mar Vista Park, the one time each week when students get to experience playing soccer on a grass field. Over 30 LAFC staff and LAFC Academy coaches volunteered to run coaching sessions and games for our students, and each student walked away with an LAFC t-shirt and stickers. Another Friday GameDay was also adopted by our long-time partner JP Morgan with volunteers helping to distribute donated soccer shoes to our students and particpate in a just for fun adults v kids scrimmage.
Also in April, Papa John's Pizza launched a new America SCORES LA promotional code, SCORES40, which allows online users to receive 40% off the cost of any menu items and Papa John's then donates 10% of the total order cost back to America SCORES LA. This offer is only good in the 6 counties of Southern California, but it runs all year through December 31, 2017, so click on the link below to order your pizza and support America SCORES LA!
In May, we were fortunate to be selected by actor Adrian Paul, best known for his six years as Duncan MacLeod in Highlander, and his organization The Peace Fund and Peace Fund Radio, to be highlighted as part of his organization's continued focus on under-served children. Adrian visited us at Palms Elementary School to conduct the radio interview and learn more about our program, including our project to bring a "Safe Place to Play" to the school playground.
America SCORES LA continues to build momentum, thank you again for your support, please help spread the word by sharing on social media below! Thanks again!!
