In January and February our Junior SCORES program took place at Palms, Braddock and Charnock elementary schools. This program is a one-week introductory soccer and reading program targeted toward kindergarten, first grade and second grade students and was met with an overwhelming response, especially at Palms where we had close to 80 students enroll, almost double over last year.
As an additional bonus, this year we received support from the Embassy of Qatar to create a Gameday event for Junior SCORES students in support of the Qatar National Day of Sports. On Tuesday February 13 we bused approximately 100 students over to Mar Vista Park, and held our first ever Junior SCORES GameDay. The day was a resounding success, each student received a soccer ball, water bottle and t-shirt as part of the event and was covered by Hoy Deportes! via a Facebook Live video feed.
