1. Goal
Build a community-led system to identify, report, and stop people harming children in Kush.
2. What We Did
Set up Community Protection Committees:
12 member groups in each zone with elders, women, youth, and religious leaders. They meet bi`weekly to review cases.
Engaged Leaders: Trained traditional and religious leaders to publicly denounce perpetrators and refuse to shield them.
School & Youth Action: Trained teachers and students to spot abuse and use anonymous reporting boxes. Yoouth ran awareness plays in communities.
Linked with Arthurities: Created a clear referral path to police and social welfare for formal action.
3. Results So Far
9 Committees set up to covering 38,560 people in Kroobay informal settlement.
37 cases reported, 9 led to action against perpetrfators.
22 leaders signed a public pledge against child exploitation.
Improved school attendance where specific perpetrators were removed.
4. Challenges
Fear of retaliation, some perpetrators have local inflkuence, and police capacity is limited.
5. Next Steps
a. Expand to 5 more communities
b. Povide safer reporting channels and support for whistleblowers.
c. Hire a large officer to follow cases through court.
Bottom line: By using existing community structures, CINOIRG is removing perpetrators cover and making it harder for abuse to continue.
