Our Reforestation & Wildlife Bridge Programs both help connect fragmented forest areas, improving safe passage and habitats for the animals, including the endangered squirrel monkey. Our current Reforestation Project aims to plant trees in the Pacific Coast of Costa Rica that will serve as a biological corridors. KSTR is also building Wildlife Bridges in more developed areas to protect wildlife and mitigate the risk of getting hit by cars and electrocutions.
The rainforest of the Pacific Coast is in danger of disappearing due to the growth of the Hotel Industry, city development, and Palm Oil activities. Many of the species in the area are losing their homes and turn to humans to be fed. This causes them to cross streets, cross electrical wires and get injured or get stolen for wildlife trafficking.
We are currently seeking for land that needs to restore the rainforest it once lost. With further donations, we will continue to plant more trees that will grow forever and create shelter & food for wildlife. To conserve species, we continue to install more wildlife bridges to help keep arboreal animals safely off the ground & electric wires and connect more sections of forest. For those that do get injured, we use the funds to provide care and rehabilitation.
Installing bridges between trees, high off the ground, gives monkeys and other wildlife a safer option to pass over dangerous roads and cross between fragmented forest. This expands their range to access more food, keeping them more active and off the ground. Planting more trees, especially native food and shade trees also creates a better habitat for all the animals, conserving wildlife and helping to balance the ecosystem. This has a great climate impact for all of us also!
