By Ufuoma Emerhor | CEO/Project Leader
This week, we paid two visits to see Malik and learn how he has been faring. During the first visit on Monday, Cavanna Fire accompanied us, as they have also been helping the fundraising effort. Chioma and Ufuoma met with Malik and his parents at their home in Lagos.
We had a long chat with Malik about the dialysis process and what he plans to do when he has recovered from his surgery. Malik said he has been going less frequently for dialysis, but he's also doing better. He said, "I can pee!" We are believing God for more great news!
We also chatted with his father, who told us how this has been for their poor family. Even he has health needs, but they've been doing all they can, as a family, to help Malik pay for his treatments. His mother told us about his food preferences, especially now that he is on a special diet to aid his recovery. We were so impressed with them, how they are hanging on through this harrowing experience.
We recorded a video, which we have uploaded on YouTube, and we recommend that you watch it. It's about 12 mins. Malik expressed his gratitude and appealed for more support for those who have been indecisive. Please help us share it with you contacts and let us build more momentum on this.
We are so encouraged that, as of September 11th, when we visited Malik at home, we have raised N2,080,617.35, which includes contributions collected on GlobalGiving! So, we are 17% on our way to reaching our goal of N12,000,000. Praise God!
On Thursday, yesterday, Emeke went to the hospital to see Malik. We hoped to see the consultant also, but she wasn't on seat. Malik took a couple of videos on his phone, which we added to our YouTube video. You can see that he is in good spirits, motivated by your support. Please keep it coming.
Thank you so much! And God bless you immensely!
