Fundraising for the Youth

By Hollie Jayde Bradley | Monitoring and Evaluation Consultant

We would like to express our gratitude for your contributions towards Brendon and his wife Anthea, who founded an organisation called The Community Program in Nababeep, Northern Cape.

The Community Program organisation is committed to transforming their community through five programmes, GBV programme, Life Skills programme, Climate change programme, Sky12 programme, and the recently added Youth programme.

The latest donation received was utilised to fundraise for their Youth programme, the fundraising event took place in Steinkopf at one of the youth’s houses as it was perfectly located to ensure maximum foot traffic to gain sales. The fundraiser was organized to raise funds for the upcoming annual exchange program with a German Youth Group. The exchange is already confirmed and The Community Program will be hosting the youth from Germany in October 2026. The money raised is to go towards activity costs during the hosting of the exchange.

The youth from The Community Program were actively involved and on the day they sold traditional roosterbrood (a South African toasted roll with fillings which is cooked on a braai - or barbeque) with sausage and relish, accompanied by a cooldrink. The donation received through the GlobalGiving platform enabled the organisation to purchase all the ingredients needed to be able to successfully run the fundraiser.

The event has given the youth a good start financially towards the exchange programme activities. The youth will be organising more events in the coming months and are very excited about the cultural exchange happening in later this year giving them invaluable exposure to different experiences and cultures that they wouldn’t have otherwise.

Thank you for your support and contribution towards sustaining vital organisations like The Community Program in communities that depend on their services to thrive.
