Hi, I am Samwel, I am 17 years old and live in live in Isiolo, Kenya in Eastern Province at a place called Aremiet.
My mother is a single parent supporting my eleven year old brother and I by creating charcoal from cutting trees and burning them. There is not enough money for me to attend school. I have worked at Gordon Clem Academy for some of my school fees.
I want to go to school to improve my life, improve the life of my last parent, to be a better person in the nation and and show a good picture to the local people.
I hope I will have a good job and improve our family. My dream when I finish the school and get a job is to build my mother a good house so she can rest from charcoal burning. Instead of burning trees to make charcoal she can plant and more trees.
Gordon Clem Academy us important because it was built in rural area where there was no school. It provides and opportunity for students who do not have adequate school fees to attend a boarding school outside the village or any school at all.
This story has been slightly edited to correct word usage and grammar. Samwel was one of the first students at Gordon Clem Academy and he has remained faithful through all the unrest. He is in need of school fees and would be most grateful if someone would sponsor him. He is very concerned about the arrears in fees that he holds. As he is able to work for some but not all of his school fees, any amount of assistance is helpful. Beverly Gilbert Stone
