Underwater monitoring in Parque Nacional Zona Marina Archipiélago Espíritu Santo
A long-term monitoring programme for this Green-listed protected area in Mexico was implemented jointly by academic institutions, civil society organisations and fishermen. Its results informed the revision of the national park's management plan. The monitoring programme covers all of the site's main values, particularly species of commercial value.

IUCN-GIZ partnership to advance knowledge sharing
IUCN and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ GmbH) recently signed a cooperation agreement to support peer-to-peer learning under the PANORAMA – Solutions for a Healthy Planet initiative. The agreement, signed by IUCN Director General Inger Andersen and GIZ Vice-Chair of the Management Board Dr Christoph Beier, provides a solid basis for joint coordination and advancement of the PANORAMA partnership.

Three updated tools for protected areas decision-making
There are a growing number of decision-support tools to support biodiversity-related decision-making. The new and newly upgraded platforms, which are directly related to sharing information about protected and conserved areas are: the Digital Observatory for Protected Areas (DOPA), the BIOPAMA Reference Information System (BIOPAMA RIS) and the Integrated Biodiversity Assessment Tool (IBAT).

Reporting on nature in Central America and the Caribbean
Countries are currently working to prepare a high quality, gender-responsive, and data-driven Sixth National Report to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD). BIOPAMA, UNEP, the CBD Secretariat and the Caribbean Biodiversity Fund assisted 17 countries from Central America and the Caribbean to exchange best practices and overcome information gaps in monitoring and reporting on the state of biodiversity.

Entrega de Reconocimiento Lista Verde a Parque Nacional Cordillera Azul
El 13 de Febrero 2019 se entregó tanto al Jefe del Parque Nacional Cordillera Azul, Gustavo Montoya, así como también al Gobierno Regional de San Martín en Perú el reconocimiento internacional Lista Verde de la UICN. Esto como reconocimiento a la efectiva gestión del área protegida en proteger sus recursos naturales. En Perú, Cordillera Azul y la Reserva Comunal Amarakaeri cuentan con este certificado. En el evento también se firmó un Convenio con el Gobierno Regional para promover la conservación de investigación en áreas naturales protegidas.

The Green List EAGL established in Georgia
The Green List journey has started in earnest in Georgia, with the formation of an Expert Assessment Group for the Green List (EAGL). Comprised of national experts from a range of diverse backgrounds, the 10 members of the Georgian EAGL are ready to lead the Green List work in their country. EAGLs are the national expert bodies set up within a jurisdiction.
