Dear Donors
The situation in the village remains concerning as the continued rains have created conditions where mosquitoes are increasing rapidly. Many families are struggling to protect themselves, especially households that cannot afford mosquito prevention supplies. Community members continue to report malaria-related illness, affecting children, parents, and older people.
Karitas Relief Mission is continuing to work with families in the community to strengthen malaria prevention and encourage people to take early action when symptoms appear. We are supporting households with mosquito repellents and sharing practical information on reducing mosquito breeding areas around homes. Families are being encouraged to keep their sleeping areas protected, maintain clean surroundings, and seek medical attention quickly when fever and other malaria symptoms occur.
The community remains highly concerned about children, who are particularly vulnerable during this period. Our field work is focused on reaching families who are most at risk and helping them take simple but important steps to prevent malaria.
Progress on the Ground
- Families are receiving malaria-prevention support and guidance.
- Community members are becoming more aware of ways to reduce mosquito exposure.
- Households are being encouraged to keep their surroundings clean and reduce stagnant water.
- Families are being reminded to seek treatment early when malaria symptoms appear.
- Karitas Relief Mission continues to monitor the situation and identify households needing additional support.
Challenges
The heavy rains continue to make mosquito control difficult. Some vulnerable families have limited resources to purchase mosquito-prevention supplies, while repeated illness places additional pressure on households.
Next Steps
Karitas Relief Mission will continue community awareness, support vulnerable families with malaria-prevention materials where possible, and encourage early treatment and prevention. We will also continue monitoring the situation as the rainy season continues.
Together, we can help village families stay protected and reduce the impact of malaria in our communities.
