Climbing the radio tower for maintenance
Exciting progress has been made at the Radio station in Terrat, northern Tanzania, and ORS-FM is now back on air!
Thanks to your generosity, we have managed to complete some technical upgrades which means the radio tower is safer and more reliable, ensuring we can keep broadcasting more important programmes to the local Maasai community.
Technical progress has been made, including installing a brand new transmitter, AVR and UPS installed to ensure continuous reliable operation after previous transmitter broke down two months ago.
Now we are back on air, ORS-FM can continue to broadcast educative programmes on climate resilience, gender equality, entrepreneurship and general education.
We have also enhanced the lightning-proofing of the radio tower, through upgrading the lightning protection features of electrical installation. We even climbed the tower (safely!) as part of our diagnostic exploring, with beautiful views of Terrat.
We are currently fundraising to enable the broadcast studio to shift from the very small room we have at present, with no lights, into a larger office, which would improve presenter's comfort and wellbeing.
Thank you for partnering with us on this impactful project!
