Keep Girls in School Through Sports

Every girl has the potential to become a leader, a changemaker, and a champion. Yet for many girls in Benue State, Nigeria, that potential is overshadowed by poverty, conflict, displacement, and deeply rooted gender inequalities. Too many girls leave school because their families cannot afford educational expenses or because they are expected to take on domestic responsibilities or marry at a young age. In many communities, opportunities for girls to participate in sports are limited or nonexistent, even though research consistently shows that sports improve confidence, school attendance, leadership, teamwork, and academic performance.

Through our Keep Girls in School Through Sports project, we use structured sporting activities as a gateway to education, mentorship, leadership development, and life-skills training.
