You met Benjamin last year when we started a campaign to raise money for new digital equipment for Elimu Resource Centre in Kenya.
The digital hub for learners has been closed since March 2020 due to COVID-19. That means Benjamin was locked out. Home from school due to lockdowns, and not able to access his favourite digital library to keep his studies going. It has been a hard year for Benjamin and his fellow students. Elimu assisted our sponsored students with food aid for their families and with textbooks to keep up their learning at home.
In January, the Kenyan government opened all schools and learning institutions again. Children are back to their classrooms and we are very happy that Elimu Resource Centre is open again.
At the Centre, students get access to the resources they are lacking at home and in the classroom. They get their hands on digital tools that are scarce in the community. On our Kindles they find their textbooks in e-format; on our shelves they find the standard paper textbooks; and in our digital libraries they find a bright, conducive study space where they meet their friends and students from all around the community. Students come to ERC to do their homework and or just catch up on what they missed in class.
The challenges of COVID-19 are still around and so we are taking all the necessary precautions to keep children safe. Click the link to see the Centre in action under the new COVID-19 protocols:

Benjamin is back too! You can help us keep our digital resources up-to-date so that children like Benjamin can keep up on their studies and gain digital skills using our digital educational resources.
