The Keep A Girl Alive program so far started well in Ekondo Titi and for the years we have had records of women who still maintain their businesses and keep good records. The program started with 10 beneficiaries that same year in June, they received their first grants (50$) and training on entrepreneurship and savings. They receive routine visits from our team of social workers in Ekondo.
Meet Onyiyechi Gift 19years, lives with her grandmother and son. Before the program gift use to sell fruits in front of her house, in very small quantity because she didn’t had enough money. She now produce water fufu and sells in Ekondo titi market. She sells on none market days because so many sellers comes on markets days which make sales to drop. Gift desire is to become a fashion designer so she works hard to save money to go back to school. She intends to start selling eru from Cameroon to Nigeria.
At first she had difficulties keeping her records but later on picked up with the help of Reach Out team. Gift has really been dedicated with her business and she is getting closer in living the life she truly deserves.
