A SAFE PERIOD SHOULD NEVER MEAN MISSING SCHOOL

By Othieno Gerald | Project Leader

For thousands of girls in rural Uganda, menstruation remains one of the most overlooked barriers to education. Without access to sanitary supplies and accurate reproductive health information, many girls are forced to miss classes every month, placing their academic progress and future opportunities at risk.

Thanks to your generous support, girls are gaining the resources and confidence they need to stay in school.

During this reporting period, we distributed menstrual hygiene kits, conducted reproductive health education sessions, and facilitated mentorship activities that equipped girls with knowledge and practical support. These interventions are helping girls manage their menstrual health with dignity and continue their education without interruption.

The reduction in youth-focused health services has increased the vulnerability of many adolescent girls. Your generosity is helping fill critical gaps and ensuring girls continue receiving support that protects both their health and education.

Teachers have reported improved attendance and stronger classroom participation among beneficiaries. Many girls now feel more comfortable attending school during their menstrual cycles and are demonstrating renewed commitment to their studies.

Thank you for helping ensure that a natural biological process does not become a barrier to education. Your support is protecting girls’ futures and creating opportunities that will benefit them for years to come.
