TURNING CHALLENGES INTO OPPORTUNITIES FOR GIRLS

By Othieno Gerald | Project Leader

Poverty and limited access to menstrual health resources continue to place many girls at risk of missing school and abandoning their education. For adolescent girls living in rural communities, these challenges are often compounded by stigma and inadequate reproductive health information.

Through this project, we have continued providing menstrual hygiene supplies and educational support designed to help girls remain in school and make informed decisions about their futures. The program also emphasizes self-confidence, leadership, and life skills development.

This reporting period was particularly important as reduced support for youth-friendly services left many communities with fewer resources for adolescent outreach. Our team responded by strengthening school-based education sessions and expanding community awareness activities.

Girls participating in the program reported feeling more informed about their health and more confident discussing issues that affect them. Teachers observed increased classroom participation and improved attendance among beneficiaries.

One student shared that she now feels hopeful about completing her education because she no longer misses school regularly due to menstruation. Her story reflects the broader impact of donor support on the lives of vulnerable girls.

Together, we are transforming challenges into opportunities. By providing essential resources and education, your support is helping girls stay in school, protect their health, and build the skills needed to create successful and independent futures.
