During year 2011 our organization suffered from the crisis, and for the first year since 2003 we couldn’t meet our target in terms of fundraising. That is why, all our programs have had to face cost reduction. Despite this challenge, this program ‘’keep 100 Moroccan children away from abandonment’’ could grow: it currently supports 53 families for a total of 111 children and 53 single mothers.
Each child above 6 is attending school. 56 children attend classes in our SOS School or Kindergarten. Thanks to two corporate partners, we could offer them the transportation to school, materials and scholastic support. The SOS Mothers (employees of the SOS Children’s Village Imzouren), decided also to share the resources, and managed to feed them for lunch in addition to the children they already care. With a real lunch per day, these 56 children can now attend classes in better conditions.
At the same time, single mothers kept on following the tuition program, which has been complemented with child
protection, family planning, health and nutrition sensitization units in partnership with the health ministry’s local representation.
Moreover, we obtained a public grant that will enable us to launch a baking vocational training within few weeks. That is why we are much more optimistic concerning year 2012.
Thank you for your support, which encourages us to go on developing this program, and helps us give these families a better life and future !
