Kate's Haven - A Refuge for Stray Cats

By Geoffrey Mulenga | Project Leader

Dear friends,

Warm greetings from Ndola, Zambia. Thanks to the early kindness of donors like you, our dream of creating a safe haven for abused and abandoned cats is moving from idea to reality. In communities where cats are still feared and attacked because of harmful myths, your support is helping us take a clear stand for compassion. Over the past weeks, we have been working with local veterinarians, community leaders, and volunteers to identify the most desperate cases, provide emergency food and treatment where we can, and begin laying the groundwork for the refuge – including scouting land and designing simple, secure shelters where rescued cats will finally be safe, fed, and cared for.

This project is about much more than rescue alone; it is about changing hearts. Alongside planning the physical refuge, we are preparing community education activities to gently challenge the belief that cats are “evil” and instead show them as gentle, valuable companions. School talks, church visits, and small community meetings will help children and adults learn how to treat animals humanely and bring strays to the refuge instead of harming them. Every donation brings us closer to a place where frightened, injured cats will find safety – and where a new culture of kindness toward animals can take root in Zambia. Thank you for standing with us in this difficult but hopeful work.
