Immediately after the GlobalGiving fundraising campaign of mid-September, the academical year has started for the Bozo students of Bamako. After the rainy season, during the first days of October the pirogue that the students use as school bus started pointing the island of Dialongoun again. Here, the Bozo kids can find a safe and friendly environment to study and spend their time, just in front of the village on the Niger rivers banks.
Thanks to the donations of our supporters, we were able to guarantee to 148 new students the opportunity of attending school during the years that just started. This is only the beginning of the Karama’s journey, since a lot of families are asking for the opportunity to send their children to the Karama’s school.
In the next months we will be focused on developing our cooperative and pedagogical activities, focusing on the respect for the people, for the environment and for the traditions of these people. Following our plan, we will also work to formalize the educational activities of Karama, giving us the opportunity to be officially recognized from the Malian Ministry of Education.
