Students Success Stories (SSS)
On October 30, 2015, Aid for Kids presented scholarships of VND1 million each (about $50 US) to two students of the June 1st School in Ho Chi Minh City, District 4. Their success stories follow:
1) Tran was born in 2006. Her parents divorced and left her and her two sisters at her grandma's home. Her grandma faces severe financial challenges trying to raise the kids. She does the best she can, with what very little she has, but she doesn’t have enough resources to pay even $50 per year to keep Tran in school past the 5th grade. With financial support from people like you, we were able to offer Tran a full scholarship next year.
2) Vo was born in 2002. He is an excellent student. His mother does labor work. His father is a motorbike-taxi driver. While both parents work very long and hard hours, by themselves they struggle to raise their three children who are all June 1st students. He received his scholarship on October 30th.
Your donations continue to help make a difference in the lives of great kids who just need a chance to succeed. There are many other great kids, excellent students in the June 1st School whose future ability to attend school is uncertain. Many may have to drop out after the 5th grade. We were able to help Tran and Vo. Let’s bring smiles and a bright future to the other great kids at the June 1st School.
