Every child dreams big, but without opportunities and resources, those dreams can fade away. In Piedra Parada, a community built around a landfill in northeast Guatemala, 80% of families live in poverty, enduring extreme 100-degree heat with no access to clean water. Many children face overwhelming challenges, often leading them to drop out of school and lose hope.
The Discovery Lab is changing that. We are helping 82 children reclaim their dreams by equipping them with essential skills in reading, math, computer literacy, coding, and English-giving them the tools they need for a brighter future.
In the afternoons, we provide middle and high school students with a safe space to study, complete homework, and conduct research, ensuring they don't have to travel long distances to an internet cafe.
