We love our volunteers!

By Bailey Sanders | Development Assistant

Did you know:

60% of teens do not know the difference between cash, credit cards, and checks?

Only 28% of parents say they have taught their children the value of money?

2 out of every 3 students either drop out of high school or graduate without the skills needed to succeed in college or in work?

JA Volunteers can help change these statistics! Our volunteers play a key role in bringing JA to life. By sharing their personal and professional experiences and skills with students from our community, the volunteers help them make the connection between what they are learning in school and what they will need to succeed in work and life. Junior Achievement volunteers are employees from large companies, small business owners, parents and other community members. Students’ participation in JA reinforces the value of an education. In recent program evaluations conducted by an independent research firm, an average of 8 out of 10 high school students report that Junior Achievement programs helped reinforce the importance of staying in school. In longitudinal studies, JA students were significantly more likely than their peers to believe that they would graduate from high school, pursue post-secondary education and graduate from college. Without our amazing volunteers, we wouldn’t be able to change the lives of these students.

“I was impressed how working with volunteers really opened new doors for my students. It made higher learning and higher earning possible.” -2nd Grade Teacher, Irving ISD

During the upcoming 2016-17 program year, JA Dallas strives to provide 52,500 K-12 students with financial literacy and economic education programs. We are so excited to get this year started!  But this accomplishment for student impact will not be possible without the help of our volunteers and the financial support of individuals like you!
