Eid is a time of joy, laughter, and generosity. Homes are filled with celebration, children wear new clothes, and families come together in happiness. For a moment, the world feels lighter.
But for children living with thalassemia, Eid is only a brief pause in a lifelong battle.
Just days after the celebrations end, reality returns. The hospital visits resume. The needles, transfusions, and medicines cannot be delayed. While the world moves on from Eid, these children must continue their fight for survival every single month.
In Pakistan, over 100,000 patients are living with thalassemia major, with thousands of new cases diagnosed each year. Each child depends on blood transfusions every 2-4 weeks just to stay alive. Alongside this, iron chelation therapy is essential every month to remove the excess iron that builds up in their bodies due to repeated transfusions.
At KITCC, we are caring for 1,045 patients across Sindh. For them, treatment is not optional. It is a lifeline.
But after Eid, something changes.
Donations that once flowed generously begin to slow down. The same support that helped provide medicines, blood arrangements, and care during Ramadan and Eid becomes uncertain. And for thalassemia patients, even a small gap can have devastating consequences.
Without regular iron chelation therapy, toxic iron starts accumulating in vital organs. The heart weakens. The liver suffers. The risk of life-threatening complications rises silently. A missed transfusion can leave a child dangerously weak, struggling just to breathe or walk.
For many families, especially those already burdened by poverty, continuing treatment without support becomes nearly impossible. Parents are forced to make heartbreaking choices between daily survival and their child’s medical needs.
This is where your support becomes more than a donation.
It becomes hope.
How does your support beyond Eid change lives?
- It ensures children continue receiving life-saving transfusions on time.
- It provides uninterrupted iron chelation therapy, protecting vital organs.
- It helps families afford transport, medicines, and essential care.
- It sustains blood donation efforts to prevent critical shortages.
Their struggle continues beyond celebrations!
Your compassion should not end with celebration. For these children, the days after Eid are just as important, if not more. This is when they need you the most.
Stand with them beyond Eid. Help us turn moments of generosity into a lasting impact.
