1. Introduction
Thalassemia is a life-threatening genetic blood disorder that requires regular blood transfusions for survival. However, frequent transfusions lead to iron overload, which can damage vital organs such as the heart, liver, and endocrine system. Iron chelation therapy is essential to remove excess iron and improve patients’ quality of life.
Our project, "Iron Chelation Therapy for Thalassemia Patients," aims to provide life-saving chelation medicine to underprivileged thalassemia patients who cannot afford treatment. Through GlobalGiving’s support, we have been able to make a significant impact on the lives of these patients.
