While the situation in Haiti continues to be intense, we're pleased to share that with support from our community, some of our collectors have been able to make a living from collecting recyclables. Currently, not only is the municipal waste source not operating, but because of roadblocks and violence, many households have had to throw their garbage out on the street. It has resulted in a significant public health issue in a challenging situation.
We're continuing to do what we can for our families. With your support, we will continue to keep plastics out of the environment and support families with dignified income that enables them to end poverty for themselves.
Education has been disrupted in Port-au-Prince with many schools shut down or students unable to physically reach their schools due to roadblocks. Currently, 80% of our students have been able to attend schools through our investments in our communities while the remaining 20% are in our out-of-school time programming to receive support to catch up. We hope that with the deployment of the UN Security Mission, all students can return to school in the new school year.
