Accompaniment with Essential Services - Update

By Richardson Antoine | WORK's First Mile Impact Manager in Haiti

One year after the assassination of the President and the devastating earthquake that ravaged the south, Haiti continues to face difficult situations. Political instability, demonstrations often claiming victims, rampant insecurity and inflation are, among other things, what Haitians face daily. As if all this were not enough, for the past four months, the country has been facing a fuel shortage like no other. We've seen a gallon of gasoline cost up to $20 USD in some parts of the country.

Even in the middle of this hard time, we continue to serve our families and collectors because of committed supporters like you who make it possible to provide uninterrupted programming services to our communities. Thanks to you, we can provide our collectors and their families with peace of mind as they prepare their kids for going back to school during an uncertain time.

We're also in lockstep with our center owners and their waste collectors as they work to find the best strategy to keep the collection network running so that they can continue to make a living income for their families.

As a WORK team member and a Haitian, seeing how individuals that have never traveled to Haiti are supporting our families and collectors makes me feel that it is beyond just an organization or a job. It is a COMMITMENT.

John C. Maxwell said: "the biggest investment you can make is in people." Witnessing how you have continued to support our education program, the youth program, the small business program, and the collection network is the real meaning of investing in people.
The impact is huge, and that means a lot to me.

I look forward to sharing the impact you've made and stories from our families during my live presentation at our upcoming annual gala, Bright Futures, on November 2nd. Please reserve your virtual or in-person ticket today.

Thank you for your time, support and commitment.
