Mutulani Community is now focusing to rehabilitate Kyanduu earth dam which is the only water source in the area. The dam has silted and the community plans to construct a sand dam along its major water inlet/spillway to prevent soil from getting into the dam thus occupying the water space. During a community planning meeting held in the community the people appreciated the installation of the water tank in the primary school and agreed to target increasing the amount of water in their major supply of water for the community needs.
The community and the local leaders have committed to bring their resources together in ensuring the increase of the amount of water in the dam for domestic use. Current water levels are low compared to previous years and this indicates that the earth dam cannot sustain the needs of the community if the rain season would delay any longer.
The pictures attached show the inlet to the earth dam where the community want to put a wall to take in the soil that fills the dam and scooping the silt in the dam to create more space for the water.
