Mutulani Primary school students thanking donors
It is my pleasure to present a four months progress report for the period (November 2020-February 2021). The project: Provide safe and clean water for 1500 children and women is aimed at improving water supply and sustaining it to serve the Mutulani community in Makueni County, Kenya.
The last two months of 2020 were characterized by good rains that led to good harvests in January and February 2021. The beginning of 2021 was full of hope where Covid 19 infection rates diminished paving way to full reopening of school at all levels.
PEN, Mutulani Schools/Community and Davis & Shirtliff celebrated the project success in a special way through planting water friendly trees around the Borehole and participating in the 2020 Giving Tuesday on December 1, 2020 marking the highest number of donations in one day since the project inception. During the celebration, children, teachers, parents and the development partners could not hide their joy and appreciation towards the support received that had enabled the secondary school access safe and portable flowing water which was timely towards prevention of the spread of Corona virus.
PEN and the community are planning to raise more funds during the International Women’s Day Campaign after the GlobalGiving Program team approved our participation application. During this campaign, we are targeting to raise money to pipe the water to the primary school and distribute to the community as well as training the Project Management Committee to prepare them for enhancing project sustainability and promote water and sanitation within all the Mutulani schools and the community.
We sincerely thank our donors and still make a kind request to continue supporting this noble cause of transforming Mutulani area towards achieving a sustainable water source for all. We also extend our appreciation to the GlobalGiving Program Team for the continued support in actualizing this dream.
