Project Report | Dec 11, 2019
Beginning the journey through local fundraising

By Mary Mutuku | Project Officer

It is my pleasure to present our project progress report for the 4th quarter (October - December 2019). The project: Provide safe and clean water for 1500 children and women was updated and is aimed at improving the water supply and sustaining it to serve the Mutulani community in Makueni County, Kenya.

This quarter formed the onset of the October-December short rains and to date the rains have not stopped. Despite the floods and mud slides in some parts of the area, no casualties have been reported from Mutulani. The crops in the farms are flourishing and promising a high yield. Water harvesting has been intensified by the community through natural harvesting structures and other water storage structures.

PEN, the Mutulani community and Mutulani secondary school have laid strategies to fundraise locally to ensure the project gains support from the local community and leaders. Through these efforts, a proposal was submitted to the National Government Constituency Development Fund’s Office seeking support towards equipping Mutulani Borehole with a Water Pump. These was after several visits and discussions towards the project aiming at solving water problems for the school going children.

We are making a kind request to all our donors to continue supporting this noble cause of transforming Mutulani area towards achieving a sustainable water source. We also extend our appreciation to the GlobalGiving Program Team for the continued support in actualizing this dream.

Thank you,
